Children's bedding

Children's bedding is available at biberna in two sizes: 100x135 cm with a 40x60 cm pillowcase for children's beds and junior beds, and 135x200 cm with an 80x80 cm pillowcase, for when the child sleeps in a standard bed. All sets are made of 100% cotton, tested according to OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, and washable at 60°C. For winter, parents choose Fine flannel or Melange Flannel, for summer, lightweight Linon, and those who need something particularly affordable choose Fleece from Castell.

Which size for which age?

100x135 cm fits children's beds with a 70x140 cm mattress, so from the move out of the baby cot (around age two) until primary school age. The 40x60 cm pillowcase is included with this size. 135x200 cm is the standard single bed size: As soon as the child moves to a 90x200 bed, usually between five and eight years old, the standard set with an 80x80 cm pillowcase fits. Many designs on this page are available in both sizes, so the favorite motif can go with the child when they change beds. These are complemented by fitted sheets for children's beds (60x120 to 70x140 cm) and individual pillowcases.

Which quality for children?

Fine flannel is the classic winter children's bedding: brushed cotton on both sides that retains heat and feels soft, with motifs such as fire engines, unicorns, woodland animals, rainbows, or outer space. Melange Flannel (zoo animals, locomotive, penguins) is the further development from our own weaving mill in Hamminkeln: finely woven, mottled instead of printed, and just as warm. Linon is smoothly woven, lightweight cotton for spring and summer and for children who sweat at night. Fleece from Castell warms immediately and costs the least, but absorbs very little moisture and is better suited for a guest children's bed. You can read the comparison for babies and toddlers in the guide Bedding for Children: Which Quality Is Right?.

Safety and Care

All sets are tested for harmful substances according to OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100. All cotton sets have zippers instead of buttons, which could come loose and be swallowed. Cotton qualities can withstand 60°C, which is sufficient against dust mites and for nighttime accidents. Wash new bedding once before first use, without fabric softener. With Biber Flannel and Flannel, the dryer makes the surface fluffier, while Linon dries better on the line.

Children's bedding as a gift: In the Gift Finder for Children, age and favorite motif are asked, and a set with a matching fitted sheet is produced at a set price.
