The two qualities compared
| Model | Size range | Colours | Special feature |
|---|---|---|---|
| biberna Jersey-Elastic | 120 × 200 to 130 × 220 cm | 28 | grows with you – also fits 130 cm wide and 220 cm long mattresses |
| Castell Jersey-Stretch | 120 × 200 cm | 16 | the more affordable entry-level option, a perfect fit for the standard size |
Which of the two is right for your mattress?
If your mattress measures exactly 120 × 200 cm, both will fit. If it is 130 cm wide or 210 to 220 cm long – for example, a box spring or extra-large bed –, you need the Jersey-Elastic, which covers the larger range. Thanks to the all-round elastic, both fit without creasing and move with every movement.
Why 120 × 200 cm is not available in biberna or terry cloth
Biberna and stretch terry cloth are woven in the standard widths of 90–100, 140–160 and 180–200 cm. The intermediate size of 120 cm can only be neatly covered with highly elastic jersey because the fabric compensates for the difference. If you are looking for biberna in this width, you are better off with a 140 × 200 cm sheet than with a 100 cm sheet that is too small – a little excess fabric is no problem, but too little fabric is.
Care
Both qualities are washable at 60 °C, tumble dryer safe and non-iron. For all tips, see our care tips.
Frequently asked questions
Does a 120 × 200 cm fitted sheet fit a 130 cm wide mattress?
The biberna Jersey-Elastic does – it is designed for 120 × 200 to 130 × 220 cm. The Castell Jersey-Stretch is cut to 120 × 200 cm and will be too tight for 130 cm.
What mattress height is covered?
Both models fit standard mattresses up to a height of approximately 25 cm. For taller mattresses or a mattress plus topper, choose the Jersey-Elastic-Boxspring with a 35–50 cm pocket depth.
Is 120 × 200 cm also available in biberna?
No. In this width, we exclusively offer elastic jersey – see the paragraph above.
How does the size fit?
The mattress size is what matters, not the bed frame. Measure the width and length of the mattress and choose accordingly.
